About the Instructors

Chuck McHugh

After 15 years with Shell Chemical, Chuck has operated his own hazmat consulting firm for over 10 years and for most of that time has also been one of DGAC’s key hazmat trainers.

Chuck has been involved with DGAC work for approximately 25 years in various capacities. As a member representative for Shell Chemical, and later as a DGAC trainer, Chuck has played a major role in the development and evolution of our training programs. He was particularly significant in proposing and leading the development of our unique specialty course on hazmat classification.

Chuck is one of an elite group of people who have earned the George S. Wilson Award (2004), the highest recognition given by DGAC. The award is presented annually for “outstanding achievement in and contributions to the field of hazardous materials transportation and safety”. Fellow recipients of this distinguished recognition include two former chairmen and two former vice-chairmen of the UN Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods.

Chuck and his wife reside near Houston, TX but can often be found traveling to various points across the country visiting the grandkids!
