2011 Conference Recap

Thank you to everyone who joined us in Tampa for the 2011 Conference and Expo. With a strong program, packed Expo Hall and a newly renewed focus on networking, this conference may have been the best DGAC has hosted to date. On Sunday evening, attendees mixed and mingled at a pre-conference gathering with views of the Tampa skyline and waterway.

The conference began on Monday with four interactive workshops that had attendees on their feet, participating in group exercises and having a good laugh. Tim Butters, Deputy Administrator of the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration gave a keynote address. Then the North American Regulations Update was followed by DGAC’s NARLA (North American Regulatory Affairs) Committee meeting. Monday closed out with the Exhibitor Reception, which was another great opportunity to socialize with other attendees.

Tuesday also had a strong conference program that included the International Regulations Update Session, followed by the DGAC's INTEREC (International Regulations) Committee meeting. At a conference luncheon, the prestigious Wilson Award was presented to outgoing President Mike Morrissette, for his outstanding service and commitment to the industry. Then after DGAC’s annual membership meeting, where the new board was announced, members enjoyed a networking reception in the Expo Hall.

The conference closed on Wednesday after educational presentations and the new Speed-Dating session, where attendees had a chance to speak with regulators in small groups. Closing remarks were offered by President-Elect Vaughn Arthur, but some attendees opted to join DGAC for a local brewery tour or a DGAC training class before departing.

DGAC would like to thank all of our sponsors, exhibitors, and our program committee. We couldn’t have orchestrated such an amazing conference without all of your help. Thank you again for making our conference a success! See you next year in Nashville, TN from October 15-17, 2012 for the 34th Annual Conference.
