Technical Staff
. DGAC has unsurpassed technical and policy capability on hazmat matters because our staff includes the expertise of Al Roberts, Frits Wybenga and associate Andy Altemos. As former senior DOT officials, Al and Frits have been involved in every aspect of hazmat activities and know how to get things done. Andy is a recognized hazmat expert with 40 years of experience. They work on issues that affect the broad range of our members, but are also available for individual technical questions. Located in Washington, DC near the DOT PHMSA offices, as well as other federal agencies, DGAC has direct access to and the ears of the agencies that affect polices and regulations.

International Representation. DGAC is the only North-American-based organization with official observer status allowing us to participate in all international meetings dealing with dangerous goods transport. DGAC has represented the industry at the UN Committee and Sub-Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, ICAO Dangerous Goods Panel, and various IMO Sub-Committees and technical groups. For over 25 years, our delegations have effectively advocated members’ views and interests. As nearly all international dangerous goods regulations are incorporated into the US DOT Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR), DGAC’s experienced representation at these meetings further serves members’ needs by giving them a voice in policy shaping arenas.

Timely Updates on the Issues Affecting the Industry. DGAC provides timely, concise and important updates to members on hazmat legislation, rules and policies that will affect their operations. Members receive e-mails, regulation summaries and other commentary on hazmat issues that keep them fully informed on the matters that affect their business. DGAC also maintains this vital information on our website. The DGAC website’s Members Only Web Page includes coverage of DGAC's committee activities, documents to international meetings, interactive bulletin boards, the online membership directory, and more. This information is available to more than just your company’s DGAC representative as well. DGAC’s Extra Member program allows additional employees to receive e-alerts and provides Members Only Website access at no extra cost.
